On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Federal Republic of Germany, SV Werder Bremen and the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) invite soccer fans to a special international women's football match.

The friendly match between the Vietnamese women's national team and the women's team of SV Werder Bremen will take place on Friday, May 16, 2025 at 19:00 at Hàng Đẫy Stadium in Hanoi. Admission is free, a ticket is not required to enter the stadium and all soccer enthusiasts are welcome to cheer on both teams at this unique sporting event.

The SV Werder Bremen women's team is the first German women's soccer team to travel to Vietnam. The trip is an important step in Werder Bremen's internationalization strategy and underlines the importance of Vietnam as a key partner. In addition to promoting women's soccer, the German club is keen to build lasting links through cultural exchange, social initiatives and youth work.

Clemens Fritz, Managing Director Football at Werder Bremen, emphasizes:

„Our Werder women are sending out a strong signal for international women's soccer with this trip. It is an excellent opportunity to build cultural bridges, to use soccer as a unifying element and at the same time to strengthen the international perception of Werder Bremen. We are delighted to be the first German club to take this step. Our Werder women are the perfect ambassadors for this and carry the values of our club out into the world in an authentic way.“

The Vietnamese national team is currently preparing for the qualifying matches for the AFC Women's Asian Cup 2026. The encounter with an interesting opponent like Werder Bremen offers the opportunity to gain valuable match experience and strengthens the fighting spirit.

„This game plays an important role in our plans for 2025. It offers our players the opportunity to prove themselves and develop further, while at the same time giving our fans the chance to cheer on the national team at home,“ said VFF General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu.

In addition to the match, the delegation from Werder Bremen, which also includes managing directors Klaus Filbry and Clemens Fritz, will take part in visits to schools and non-profit organizations, youth football initiatives and other cultural programmes during their stay. Werder Bremen is thus continuing its intensive commitment to education and sustainability.

The German Embassy in Hanoi would like to thank Werder Bremen and the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) for working closely together to make this freely accessible sporting highlight in Hanoi possible. You are all cordially invited to join us on Friday at Hàng Đẫy Stadium!
