The German embassy calls on young and talented Vietnamese artists to participate in a unique art project, to highlight the 50th anniversary of German-Vietnamese relations since the establishment of diplomatic relations on September 23, 1975.

We are extending an invitation to creative minds to turn the outer wall of the German embassy into an open-air canvas! Your art works shall exemplify diverse perspectives and views on the multifaceted dimension of the relation between Germany and Vietnam. The project aims to foster cultural exchange and showcase the vibrant artistic talent of young Vietnamese artists.

Interested artists are encouraged to submit a short personal introduction, a rough sketch of their proposed artwork, and a list of required art materials for its production on the canvas.

The artistic concept should creatively depict key aspect of the Vietnamese-German relationship.

Consider themes such as:

• Future aspirations: Express hopes and dreams for the future of the Vietnamese-German partnership

• Personal encounters or experiences that have shaped your understanding of Germany

• Cultural convergences and differences

• Historical connections: Explore shared history between Vietnam in Germany

• And above all we welcome your personal interpretations and cultural narratives in the context of the bilateral relations between Vietnam and Germany.

The creation of your art project can begin as soon as you have received a formal invitation to the art event.

The live event will take place on Friday, 11.04.2025 at the German Embassy in Hanoi, Tran Phu Str. 27, Ba Dinh District, Hanoi

This live event aims to provide you with the opportunity to finalize your art project on-site and connect with your fellow artists friends, representatives of the Contemporary Arts Centre, Vietnam Institute of Culture and Arts Studies (VICAS) and staff of the German embassy during a buffet lunch.

Following the event, all art works will be exhibited for 3 months along the outer wall of the German embassy and showcased on the anniversary website where they will be made available for purchase.

Important information:

• This call for applications is open to Vietnamese visual media artists and Vietnamese art students
• Applications can be submitted by individuals as well as groups
• The embassy will provide canvases according to the measurements found in the annex (please see next page)

• The embassy will cover expenses for materials needed, such as Painting colors, graffiti cans, painting brushes

• Please note, that travel allowances for artists from other provinces cannot be covered by the embassy

• Selection & Announcement: approximately end of March
