A “German Science Day” was organised in Ho Chi Minh City on 1 March 2017 to mark 20 years of scientific-technological cooperation between Vietnam and Germany.

An unexpected audience of about 400 were overwhelmed by the large-scale cooperation between our two countries which manifests itself particularly in the areas of water water supply and management, urban development, healthcare studies, and other environmental technologies to help achieve the UN sustainable development goals (SDGs) 2030.

The event was organised by Vietnam’s Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST), the German Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in cooperation with the German Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City.

Many sponsorship programmes and cooperation opportunities were presented. Meanwhile, universities and research institutes from Germany presented applied research and projects which aim to address pressing issues in cities. They also exchanged scientific information with potential partners in Vietnam.

Organising team and participants are looking forward to the next German Science Day in 2018!
